November 4, 201
The November 4 meeting of the Board of Selectmen was called to order at 11 a.m. by Chairman Soter with Mr. Mayhew and Mr. Spencer in attendance. Mr. Fraine stated that he had requested the meeting in order to have the Board consider the appointment of Grace Devitt to the Board of Assessors. Mr. Fraine explained this is a three member Board which is short one member due to a recent resignation. The Assessors are currently working through a revaluation and are in need of a third member as soon as possible. Mrs. Devitt possesses the Assessor’s Course 101 certification and is ready to participate.
On a Mayhew/Spencer motion, the Board unanimously voted to appoint Grace Devitt to the Board of Assessors.
On a Spencer/Mayhew motion, the Board unanimously voted to authorize Mr. Fraine to pursue a DLTA technical assistance grant to assist with the creation of an Economic Development Commission.
Mr. Laviolette asked the Board to consider adopting new legislation which would allow the Board to designate one individual to sign warrants as opposed to a majority of the Board. Mr. Fraine suggested the Board designate the Chairman; however, the warrants would still be available for review and signing by all members as is the current practice. The Accounting office would be able to process payments provided the Chairman had signed the documents.
On a Mayhew/Spencer motion, the Board unanimously voted to designate the Chairman as the signatory for the weekly warrants. The warrants will remain available for all members to review and sign each week.
On a Mayhew/Spencer motion, the Board unanimously voted to deny the request of Kathy Stutz for a temporary used car license. This request was forwarded to Town Counsel and is attached. The Board noted the Town’s by-law does not allow for the award of an additional used car license.
On a Spencer/Mayhew motion, the Board unanimously voted to adjourn at 11:15 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Denis C. Fraine
Town Administrator
